To accommodate increased usage of credit cards at petrol stations, Petronas Dagangan Bhd has recently introduced co-branded credit cards with MAYBANK and CIMB BANK. The credit cards known as Petronas CIMB MasterCard and Petronas Maybankard Visa. The company’s chairman and Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) vice-president for oil business, Datuk Anuar Ahmad, said a quarter of last year’s transactions were via third-party credit cards. He also said last year the transactions grew about 12-15 per cent and this trend is expected to continue at PDB’s network of more than 870 service stations nationwide. With the introduction of the credit cards, users will be able to earn better reward points in the form of free petrol vouchers. The two credit cards are free for life, carry no annual fees, no joining fees and no minimum spending required. The cards can be used not only for purchase of PETROL but also at over thousands of outlets that accept VISA and MASTERCARD.

New Credit Cards Incorporate Security Key Fob Features

This new kind of credit card being shown off at trade shows is designed to prevent against loss due to identity theft by incorporating a security key fob with a credit card. The idea is that when you buy online, swipe at the store, or take money out of the ATM, you hit a button to randomly generate a unique, disposable key code. Enter that code to verify the transaction. This way, someone would actually have to steal your physical credit card to conduct fraud. Best of all, it's the same size and thickness as a regular credit card.We had a type of key-fob for computer access at a previous job of mine. The fob had a buttons to enter a PIN and then would display the OTP. If you screwed up the PIN a preset number of times then it would lock the fob until it was brought back to the IT department and unlocked. I know one guy who finally convinced the IT department to do away with the lockout feature on his fob because his 2-year old son thought the fob was a toy and kept locking it up
